Suomen Kuvalehti

Founded in 1916, Suomen Kuvalehti is one of Finland’s largest weekly magazines. We were tasked with designing a new logotype as part of its redesign, drawing inspiration from the magazine’s history and hand-drawn word marks of the 1920s to 1940s. For the body text, we developed a custom version of Items with lower contrast, generous spacing and smaller capitals. The typographic palette also includes a Deck version for medium-sized headlines and a Display variation. In addition to the logotype and custom fonts, we also redrew the iconic lion emblem.
